The topic of the exhibition 'Arftful Ambassadors' is more than five centuries of cultural exchange between the continents. Art objects of the highest skill and significance have left their homelands during the travels of single adventurers and whole dynasties and have become ambassadors for different world views. The presentation of these valuable memorabilia from different worlds in a common 'universe' serves the understanding of the country of origin and the mutual cultural influence. Nine topics arrange the objects in a spatial and content-related context, which we configure in the form of 'islands' (showcases) within the 'universe' (exhibition hall). The movement within the exhibition hall through the showcase islands resembles the navigation through the oceans. The visitor metaphorically becomes the adventurer of a journey of exploration. The displays containing the cultural treasures float freely in space and time. By means of the curatorial context the art objects are brought into a new thematic order. The movement or time travel through the artistically crafted objects stimulates the understanding of what has been handed down over generations and sets impulses for new interpretations.
