921 earthquake memorial | nantou taiwan | 2004 competition honorable mention

our concept entailed the design of an interactive memorial enabling the visitor to recall history in an informative and simultaneously way. the site becomes a space for information and retreat. the monument`s vertical structure reacts to occurring earth movements by radiating light at different intensity levels.
